What is Critical Thinking definition/concept

The activity and effect of reflecting is what we know as thinking . On the other hand, the adjective critical refers to judgments or opinions that are a consequence of an analysis. In this way, critical thinking refers to thinking through a set of judgments that come from an analysis.

It assumes that mental activity is generated from impartiality. In other words, to think critically is to leave the subject under analysis to reflect through a different perspective in order to find a solution to the question or problem being analyzed. In this type of development of reasoning, what is difficult is not the act of thinking, but rather finding the position of intellectual impartiality.

Critical Thinking Considerations

It is not memorizing some ideas for some purpose. Thus, a student who studies a subject through his memory and records what he has learned in an exam is not using critical thinking, as he is simply limited to memorizing, repeating and reproducing the information on a sheet.

Critical thinking is an intellectual strategy by which the individual reaches his own conclusions without the need to adapt to an already established model. In this way, critical thinking means not accepting the truth about something straight away.

It can be said that the person who has a critical thinking is the one who does not limit himself to following the instructions of a program, but creates his own programming of ideas.

Critical thinking has a subversive component

In most educational systems, critical thinking is not promoted. In fact, students assume that certain truths are valid for what is said in the text of a book and questioning would be a futile effort. This scheme prevailing in educational systems is later applied to the whole of reality , consequently individuals are limited to accepting official truths.

On the other hand, if a person bets on critical and alternative thinking, his intellectual approach is based on three elements: thinking independently, questioning the official truth and adopting a position of vital nonconformity.

Critical thinking is not a new intellectual current, as it is part of human history

Thanks to him, Greek philosophers replaced mythological explanations with rationality and Renaissance scientists brought a new view of the universe .

Critical thinking is subversive because it destabilizes official approaches to any discipline or area of knowledge.
