When something is said to be universal, it is referring to a vision that expresses an existing fact that is always present. Universalism
This is part of a type of thinking called universalism and is a paradigm of the organization of all things, as well as their approach and explanation. Therefore, universalism is not about a specific ideology , it is not an ideology of its own, but rather a way of seeing things, of receiving and interpreting the surrounding reality .
In different areas of everyday life, the marks of universalism can be glimpsed, as in the case of politics . In this case, a universal political conception comprises an ideology related to the unification of powers and all institutions in the world in a single mode of organization. For example, the great empires with their power during the Middle Ages, the reign of the Byzantine empires or the Holy Roman-German empire and the Muslim caliphates of former Constantinople. The relationship “political universalism” should not be confused with “globalization”, since in the case of the latter, different elements of various communities or collectivities merge to be transformed in a unified but restructured way.
In relation to religion, we can name Christian universalism, where its main basis is faith with the fulfillment of the duties of each man, also as a form of respect for others. In this sense, Christian faith consists in the belief that God is the beginning of the creation of all things and that his principles are necessary to cultivate human morality , an essential condition for achieving human well-being. In this way, professing the Christian faith establishes the defense of conversion to Christianity in order to propagate morality and human well-being from the Christian religion.
The same can be associated with Islam, a religion that since its origins in the seventh century established a universal vision in its doctrine , expressed by its creator Mohammed and written in the holy book, the Koran.
Finally, it is important to recognize that the opposite of a universal view is a nominal view, or also called a particular view, which establishes an individualistic way of approaching and interpreting reality. Likewise, universalism is a current of thought that does not deny the existence of nominal forms, but denies that they are true.
