The means of communication spread information about people, but not always what it says true. Given this circumstance, the legal framework of many nations and the universal declaration of human rights includes the right to reply. As the name implies, it consists in recognizing the right of each person to be able to defend themselves against possible infamy or defamation. The individual who considers himself affected by some incorrect or false information about himself has the option of expressing himself freely in order to rectify what has been said about him. For the right of reply to be effective, he must have access to the source of information that offended him. Likewise, the law provides that those who consider themselves offended in any sense can use the media in an equitable and similar manner to have the right to reply.

Recognition of this right is considered a legal advance

The media report on the general framework of freedom of expression. On the other hand, citizens have the right to be informed with criteria of veracity . It intends to balance both realities, because if the possibility of rectification did not exist, citizenship could have biased, wrong or false information.

It must be understood in the general framework of free expression of ideas. Thus, if all citizens, without distinction, can express themselves with complete freedom, it is logical that there is legislation that protects this freedom. Right of Reply

In other words, the news media express themselves freely, but that does not mean that they can spread falsehoods with complete impunity and without any kind of limits.

Finally, it should be noted that the possibility of an answer refers only to the propagation of false data and not to simple opinions (statements about specific data are subject to possible correction, but not to subjective opinions).
