What is Pesticides/meaning/concept/elaboration
Chemicals that produce toxicity in crops are called pesticides. Pesticides or pesticides are equivalent terms. Anyway, they are harmful substances to the cultivated soil and harmful to human health. Its use has spread across the planet and its main objective is to combat animal pests that endanger crops.
Serious health consequences
Genetic malformations, respiratory diseases, allergies, skin problems and cancer are some of the consequences of fumigating crops with toxic substances. Many of the effects become chronic diseases or problems related to reproduction. According to some studies, these substances may be related to the onset of Parkinson’s disease.
The Organization World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed the harmful effects of pesticides and, therefore, are made some recommendations to establish the necessary control over these venous substances.
the glyphosate
This herbicide is commonly used to kill plants such as weeds, grasses and woody species. However, when glyphosate comes into contact with the skin, it can enter the bloodstream and cause serious illness.
It is possible to work the land in another way
The use of pesticides is an avoidable evil, as there are completely valid alternatives without any harm associated with the environment and health. Crop care can be done through agroecological techniques. This discipline was developed under the influence of the environmental movement that emerged in the 1970s.
Farmers who follow agroecology guidelines use organic-type fertilizers, minimize heavy machinery and introduce hedgerows to delimit the land.
Agroecology is based on a fundamental principle: to keep crops with as little environmental impact as possible and, at the same time, guarantee productivity. It is a scientific discipline that can be applied in the rural world in general and that is based on a sustainability model. To achieve these goals, two strategies are employed: the renunciation of any agrotoxic substance and the non-genetic manipulation of crops.
